The People from Hua Sai

Hua Sai, a small village in the Province of Nakhon Si Thammarat in the south of Thailand. Like most places in the world, Hua Sai experiences a rural exodus, leaving mainly the youngest and elderly people behind. These people are living the slow and simple life, sometimes lacking the luxury, excitement and entertainment of the big city, but in a community full of warmth and with the right values of friendship, cordial cooperation and a sense of belonging that we all miss once we come to the big cities – and which make us want to go back every time we are far. Truly a Home. And in the end, isn’t this what we all long for in times of stress and burden?

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved for your kindness and hospitality, for welcoming me with smiles, food and open arms wherever I went, and for letting me take pictures of you in your homes.
This place and this series of portraits is close to my heart; I will always enjoy going back.

หัวไทรเป็นหมู่บ้านเล็ก ๆ ในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ทางตอนใต้ของประเทศไทย เช่นเดียวกับสถานที่ต่างๆในโลก หัวไทรประสบปัญหาการอพยพโดย ในชนบทส่วนใหญ่จะมีเด็กและผู้สูงอายอาศัยอยู่ที่นีเป็นส่วนใหญ่ คนเหล่านี้มีชีวิตที่เรียบง่ายและบางครั้งก็ไม่ได้มีความหรูหรา ตื่นเต้นและ ความบันเทิงเหมือนกับในเมืองใหญ่
